Mechanism for coordination and monitoring of EU Global Health strategy’s implementation

How do we turn the high-level policy goals of the EU Global Health Strategy into tangible global impact? High-level commitments are vital, but bringing them to life requires robust transparency, strong cross-border coordination, and the right digital infrastructure.

To meet this challenge, the Joint Action on Global Health Initiatives (JA GHI) is progressing on a core objective: building an EU Global Health IT solution. Designed and led by Work Package 5 (WP5) under the leadership of Linda Laganovska, this platform creates a unified architecture to map, monitor, and maximize European contributions to global health.

During a recent progress session, WP5 presented the architectural foundations and long-term vision for the digital solution:

1. The WP5 Architectural Blueprint: A detailed framework designed to align digital capabilities with EU strategy goals, ensuring seamless coordination and long-term policy alignment across Member States.
2. Unified Data Integration: The platform aggregates complex data from established global sources—including the OECD, WHO, and Eurostat—to give decision-makers a clear, single-window overview of activities and resource flows.
3. Future-Proof Analytics: The infrastructure explores AI-driven tools and advanced data modelling to help Europe anticipate emerging health challenges and respond more effectively to       future crises.

Strategic Governance & Expert Collaboration

While technical insights during the session were provided by colleagues from PwC, the strategic direction and overall implementation remain firmly guided by WP5 within the JA GHI framework. This collaboration ensures that the digital tools developed are technically robust, secure, and directly rooted in Europe’s shared global health priorities.
