The meeting marked the close of <strong>Year 2<\/strong> and set the direction for the work ahead, as partners, experts, and representatives from <strong>24 countries and 44 institutions<\/strong> reflected on what has been achieved and what lies before us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Assembly opened with a reminder of the significance of this moment.<br>In his address, <strong>Dr J\u00e9r\u00f4me Weinbach<\/strong>, Coordinator of JA GHI, noted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe gather today at a time of profound uncertainty for global health\u2026 Multilateralism itself is being questioned, just when we need it most. And yet \u2013 there are reasons for hope.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That sense of cautious optimism ran through the discussions.<br>In just two years, JA GHI has grown into a dynamic platform where countries and institutions meet, share, and align their priorities in support of the <strong>EU Global Health Strategy<\/strong>.<br>Together, they have achieved important milestones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the <strong>first EU-wide mapping<\/strong> of global health measures and funding across 21 countries;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a <strong>sustainability roadmap<\/strong> to ensure that today\u2019s efforts endure tomorrow;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>new <strong>dialogues with partners beyond the EU<\/strong>, capturing perspectives on Europe\u2019s added value; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a strong foundation of <strong>evidence-based surveys and evaluations<\/strong> to guide decisions and accountability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis Assembly is not only about reviewing achievements \u2013 it is about turning them into lasting impact,\u201d Dr Weinbach said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Message of Unity from the European Commission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A highlight of the gathering was the participation of <strong>Sandra Gallina<\/strong>, <strong>Deputy Director-General of DG SANTE<\/strong>, whose words resonated as both recognition and encouragement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis Joint Action is a clear demonstration that we are stronger when we work together,\u201d she said. \u201cYou have laid good foundations for a more united Europe on the global level \u2013 which is not a simple thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She reminded participants that, four years after the EU Global Health Strategy was adopted, its mission remains crucial:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe global landscape is profoundly changing, but its objectives are as relevant as ever. Your work is key to ensuring that Europe speaks with one strong, coherent, and credible voice on global health.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Looking Ahead<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Over three days, the Assembly explored lessons learned, assessed progress across Work Packages, and set priorities for <strong>JA GHI 2.0<\/strong>. Interactive sessions with the <strong>High-Level Panel<\/strong> and <strong>Executive Board<\/strong> focused on future monitoring, sustainability, and alignment with evolving global health needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Risks and Challenges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussions also acknowledged the <strong>complex realities shaping global health today<\/strong>. The <strong>fragmentation of international cooperation<\/strong>, <strong>geopolitical tensions<\/strong>, and <strong>shifting global priorities<\/strong> continue to challenge collective action. The lingering effects of the <strong>COVID-19 pandemic<\/strong>, <strong>climate-related health emergencies<\/strong>, and <strong>disruptions to global supply chains<\/strong> have deepened inequalities and tested health systems worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For JA GHI, these are not obstacles but <strong>realities to navigate<\/strong> &#8211; reminders of why coordination, solidarity, and trust are more vital than ever.
