World Health Summit, October 13 to 15, 2024 in Berlin
World Health Summit is an event that brings together the world’s healthcare players.
On the Panel discussion “Leveraging Global Health Strategies for Worldwide Impact”, Dr. Jérôme Weinbach intervened as a panellist, based on his experience with the French Global Health strategy and as coordinator of the European Joint Action JA GHI.
Regarding the questions raised to the panellists on the added value and impact of the Global Health strategies, Dr. Weinbach pointed out the need for Global Health strategies to define monitoring indicators, as clear and operational as possible, as well as to document and report on the impact of the strategy in order to make adjustments if necessary.

In Europe, four countries have developed a Global Health strategy (GHS): Germany, France, Netherlands and Sweden. These strategies take into account cross-border threats and include a OneHealth approach, thus forcing policy makers to broaden issues beyond national preoccupations.
It was highlighted that it is an asset for Europe to have an EU GHS alongside national strategies that are developed based on each country’s core capacities and pool of resources. This diversity is reflected in Team Europe Initiatives, which serves as a powerful collaborative tool to align the efforts from MS and EU toward achieving global health objectives.
Dr. Weinbach illustrated this enhanced collaboration with the IT tool currently being developed within the JA GHI, which aims to provide up-to-date information on funding, initiatives and policies in the field of global health.
