JA GHI at EUPHA 2024: Advancing Global Health and Sustainability

Between November 13–15, 2024, the French Ministry of Health, on behalf of the JA GHI consortium, proudly presented the European Joint Action “JA GHI at the 17th European Public Health Conference (EUPHA)  in Lisbon. The conference theme, “Sailing the Waves of European Public Health: Exploring a Sea of Innovation,” provided the perfect opportunity to showcase our mission and sustainability strategy. During the conference, Valentina Favata, a member of the WP1 team, presented a poster titled:
“Ensuring Impact Beyond European Funding: Sustainability in the Global Health Impact Joint Action.”

She  highlighted the four pillars of JA GHI’s sustainability strategy to ensure our work delivers long-lasting impact beyond the funding period ending in October 2025:

  • Identifying priority outcomes and key outputs for sustainability.
  • Engaging global stakeholders, including policymakers, civil society, academia, ministries, and public agencies, through a diverse Panel of 11 High-Level Representatives from Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
  • Creating synergies  with other initiatives, European Joint Actions, and networks.
  • Respecting structural and cultural diversity across countries with centralized and decentralized healthcare systems.

We are already looking ahead to the EUPHA 2025 Conference in Helsinki, themed “Investing for Sustainable Health and Well-being.” The JA GHI consortium will actively contribute to the recently launched Global Health section, promoting the EU Global Health Strategy and engaging with EUPHA members to champion collaboration in Global Health.

Together, we are building a sustainable foundation for future innovation in Global Health.
