Project Outcomes for the European Joint Action GHI

The European Joint Action on Global Health Initiatives (JA GHI) is designed to strengthen the EU’s leadership in global health by fostering closer coordination between the EU and its Member States (MS). Below are the key outcomes anticipated from the project:

1. Establishment of a Rolling Coordination Mechanism
A dynamic mapping and monitoring system will be developed to track ongoing actions, key measures, and funding related to the EU Global Health Strategy. This mechanism ensures alignment and synergy between national and EU strategies.
2. Improved Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
Enhanced exchanges of strategies, governance models, and practices among Member States will lead to stronger cooperation in global health efforts, fostering innovation and alignment across borders.
3. Enhanced Representation in Global Fora
Member States will benefit from improved coordination to ensure the EU voice in multilateral platforms, such as G7 and G20, represents all MS inclusively, bolstering the EU’s global influence.
4. Creation of the “Team Europe” Framework
The initiative will deliver a tailored framework to support more equitable partnerships with other regions and countries, aligning with the EU Global Health Strategy and Global Gateway initiatives. This will open opportunities for collaborative projects and investments that extend beyond what individual MS can achieve.
5. Showcasing National and Regional Expertise
The JA GHI will highlight national projects and expertise, such as One Health approaches, digital health, and health responses to climate challenges, creating synergies among Member States and boosting visibility of their contributions to global health.
6. Optimized Financial Resource Utilization
Member States will gain improved access to European Commission financial instruments and resources, enabling them to initiate new global health projects under the “Team Europe” brand.
7. Inclusion of Non-Participating Member States
Non-participating Member States (EE, LU, MT, CY, SK) will remain informed and engaged through established communication channels, ensuring they can join the consortium and benefit from project outcomes as needed.
8. Increased Visibility of EU Global Health Contributions
Through a comprehensive communication strategy, the JA GHI will amplify the visibility of EU and Member States’ contributions to global health, showcasing their investments and achievements on a global scale.
9. Development of a Continuous “Suggestions Forum”
A collaborative forum will be piloted to prioritize strategic areas for joint implementation and coordination in global health, supporting a unified approach to addressing global health challenges.

These outcomes collectively strengthen the EU’s role in global health, ensuring sustained collaboration, innovation, and equity across Member States while addressing global health challenges effectively.
